Terms & Conditions
Our Terms & Conditions are designed to ensure a fair and safe experience for all participants.
- Applicability

- The following terms and conditions govern the relationship between the participant in the event (hereinafter referred to as the “Participant”) and the International Institute for Strategic Development, with its registered office in Leipziger Platz 15, 10117 Berlin (hereinafter referred to as the “Organiser”). Other terms and conditions, arrangements, and/or regulations shall have no validity.
- Registration

- Registration for participation in the event can be made through the registration form available on the Organiser’s website, via the Organiser’s e-mail address or by phone. Submitting the registration form shall serve as a declaration of intent to participate in the event and shall not mean reservation of a place.
- The Organiser reserves the right to reject the registration form.
- The Organiser shall, within 5 days, process the received registration form and send an invoice with bank account details to the e-mail address specified in the registration form as confirmation of acceptance of the application.
- As soon as the Organiser issues an invoice, the Participant shall become bound by its obligations under the event.
- A place for the event is deemed to be reserved after the Participant pays the full participation fee to the Organiser’s account. The day of payment shall be the day of bank transfer by the Participant.
- No later than 5 days before the start of the event, the Organiser shall send organisational details to the Participant by e-mail to the e-mail address provided in the registration form.
- Organisational issues

- The course fee includes the Participant and course fee in EUR net, subject to current German VAT. It also includes training documentation according to the event description, lunch/snacks, refreshments during breaks, a certificate of participation.
- The Organiser shall have the right to change speakers/instructors and modify the programme of the event if necessary, while maintaining the overall nature of the event.
- Participants shall be notified immediately if the event is cancelled due to force majeure, indisposition of the speakers/instructors, problems at the selected location, or low registration rate.
- In the case of cancellation of the event, the Organiser shall refund the Participant the full amount paid.
- Event fees shall be reimbursed in the cases specified above. Reimbursement of travel or work absenteeism expenses shall only be granted in the case of wilful misconduct or gross negligence by the International Institute for Strategic Development. Any reimbursement of travel expenses shall be regarded as an exceptional goodwill gesture and not a future general obligation.
- The Organiser agrees to to resolve or limit any problems that may occur to maintain the event and continue it as planned.
- Payment

- Upon receipt of the invoice, Participants shall pay the registration fee immediately within 14 days. Failure to pay the fee shall result in cancellation of the application.
- Participants who have received an invoice 5 days before the start of the event shall pay the registration fee immediately within 1 day. Failure to pay the fee shall result in cancellation of the application.
- In the event of the Organiser’s failure to receive payment prior to the start of the event, the event fee shall be still due immediately and can be claimed through a reminder procedure or legal action.
- The Organiser may claim higher damages for delay, if this is proven. The Participant may prove that the damage did not occur or had lesser effects than estimated by the Organiser.
- Payment shall be made by non-cash bank transfer. Cash or cheques shall not be accepted. The Organiser shall not be held liable for loss of legal tenders.
- Cancellation

- Cancellation shall require an electronic form (e-mail). Cancellation by the Participant shall be subject to the following cancellation fees:

- The Organiser shall accept, at no additional cost, the Substitute Participant designated in the event of cancellation of the Participant specified in the registration form, if the Substitute Participant registers at least three days before the start of the event. It is not possible to cancel a particular module/part of the course or make a replacement with another module/day.
- Copyright

- All copyrights in the works presented in the events (in particular, the programme of activities, the way it is presented, and the exercises conducted in the events) and the educational materials used in the conduct of the event, belong to the Organiser and the Participant shall have the right to use them solely for the purpose of participating in the event.
- The works presented at the event, images and statements of participants and presenters and educational materials cannot be recorded, distributed, copied or shared. In particular, Participants cannot record the course of the event (both video and audio, in whole and in part) or otherwise register it, take photos (screenshots) of the event, or transcribe the statements of the presenters and other participants.
- If the Organiser provides the Participant with a video recording of the event, the Participant acquires the right to view the recording made available to them once. Any other use of the recording shall be deemed unlawful. Only the Organiser can decide on the release of recordings to the Participant.
- Responsibility

- All events are prepared and conducted by qualified speakers and instructors. The International Institute for Strategic Development shall not be liable for the correctness and timeliness of the training content, training documents, and the Participant’s attainment of a given level of knowledge. Furthermore, the International Institute for Strategic Development shall not be liable for any damage that could result from misunderstood or incomplete information.
- Applicable law, place of jurisdiction, place of performance

- All cases shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with German law, excluding the UN Sales Convention. Insofar as legally permissible, the place of performance and exclusive jurisdiction shall be Berlin, Germany.
- Data protection and processing

- The Organiser shall be the controller with respect to the personal data of the Participant and the Ordering Party (hereinafter referred to as the “Ordering Party”) (within the meaning of the applicable data protection legislation, i.e. Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation, hereinafter referred to as the “GDPR”).
- The personal data of the Ordering Party and the Participant (i.e. name and surname, e-mail address and business name, and registration data of the Ordering Party) shall be processed by the Organiser to perform activities in the organisation, conduct and, management of the event, in particular: the sending (to the indicated e-mail address) of a reminder about the upcoming date of the event and possibly other communications necessary for the proper organisation and management of the event, sending (to the indicated e-mail address) of a presentation and possibly additional teaching materials regarding the completed event and a post-training evaluation survey, preparing and sending (to the indicated e-mail address) of certificates confirming participation in the event (if applicable), and issuing of invoices.
- Personal data provided to the Organiser in the registration form shall be processed by the Organiser on the basis of Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR, Article 6(1)(c) of the GDPR, and Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
- Personal data shall be processed and secured by the Organiser in accordance with the applicable regulations on personal data protection, in particular in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR and using standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, should the processing involve the need to transfer personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).
- Personal data shall be transferred to entities processing data on behalf of the Organiser, participating in the performance of the Organiser’s activities including, among others, entities operating IT systems and providing access to IT systems, entities providing accounting services, entities providing hotel services, and entities providing services related to the organisation of training (conference venues and conference venue security).
- The Ordering Party and the Participant shall have the right to access, rectify or erase the data, restrict or limit data processing, as well as the right to object, request the cessation of data processing and transfer, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time. In the event of violations of the GDPR, data subjects are entitled to log a complaint with a supervisory agency, in particular in the member state where they usually maintain their domicile, place of work or at the place where the alleged violation occurred. The right to log a complaint is in effect regardless of any other administrative or court proceedings available as legal recourses. - Personal data shall be processed by the Organiser for the period of time necessary to achieve the processing purposes specified in section 9.2.
- Personal data shall be processed on the basis of the Participant’s consent and until the consent is revoked or the Organiser determines that the data has become obsolete.
- Personal data shall be retained for direct marketing purposes (to the extent that the Participant’s consent is not necessary) until the processing purposes specified in section 9.2 are fulfilled or an objection is filed, whichever occurs first.
